<strong>THE</strong> UNIVERSAL MESSAGE 367In the afternoon Easterners <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> Westerners met again at 2 p.rn. <strong>The</strong>re was no rain, although the windwas in the S.E. <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> there was much cloud. After <strong>an</strong>nouncements, there was bhaj<strong>an</strong> by a comp<strong>an</strong>y <strong>of</strong>singers from Poona, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> the approach to <strong>Baba</strong> by those who had not already taken part was continued.Despite the large crowd <strong>of</strong> people <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> their <strong>an</strong>xiety to come to <strong>Baba</strong>, complete order was maintainedthroughout the afternoon until 6 0' clock. As before the Western visitors sat during the entire period. <strong>The</strong>affair ended <strong>with</strong> the arti <strong>with</strong>out the ceremony.As there were still m<strong>an</strong>y Eastern visitors to come to <strong>Baba</strong> he went to the p<strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong>al at 6 a.m. the nextmorning, Saturday, at 8.30 a.m., before meeting the Westerners. He had fisherfolk from the village <strong>of</strong>Chirale near Bombay who had been sitting on the front porch brought in <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> asked them to sing. Whatthey s<strong>an</strong>g, tr<strong>an</strong>slated by Eruch, was:I bow to you in your infinite aspects; infinite Bliss, infinite Knowledge, <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> infinite Power are in thishum<strong>an</strong> form <strong>of</strong> yours. You are my real father <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> mother. I long for that day when I become one <strong>with</strong> you.<strong>The</strong>y received a prasad <strong>of</strong> sweets <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> after embracing <strong>Baba</strong> left for home. <strong>The</strong> Westerners gatheredwhile this was taking place, when he greeted them. On this occasion there was singing by one <strong>of</strong> India'sforemost classical singers who had come especially from Calcutta, Vinayakrao Patwardh<strong>an</strong>, which wasreceived <strong>with</strong> pleasure by <strong>Baba</strong>. Afterwards he made enquiries about people who were sick <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> had some<strong>of</strong> them brought to the gathering. He said:"In 1963 I shall see no one <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> will have no correspondence."I shall then prepare for the urge to break my silence. I w<strong>an</strong>t to finish my universal work." He added aftera reference to the disturbed state <strong>of</strong> the country:"Instead <strong>of</strong> blood, let the love <strong>of</strong> God flow."He resumed <strong>with</strong> the Easterners at 1 p.m., <strong><strong>an</strong>d</strong> at 3 p.m. a message to 'My Dear <strong>Work</strong>ers' was read inEnglish by Darwin Shaw, followed by versions in three l<strong>an</strong>guages. In the course <strong>of</strong> it <strong>Baba</strong> said:"In spite <strong>of</strong> telling you that I will not give <strong>an</strong>y more messages or discourses, I find myself doing just thisthing which is what I do not w<strong>an</strong>t to do. This is because most <strong>of</strong> you do things which I do not like youdoing.
