From these few examples, it becomes quite evident that project of this type can be<br />

solutions especially for remote areas, for which it is unlikely that they will be connected<br />

to a main grid in the short or medium term. However, they cannot really be considered<br />

as an alternative to Mt. Coffee or other medium to large sized hydropower projects).<br />

24.3 Conclusions<br />

The main conclusion from this evaluation is that the rehabilitation of Mt. Coffee, as<br />

currently planned, is the preferred option from an environmental and social point of<br />

view. The benefits from this Project by far outweigh its negative impacts, and the<br />

evaluated alternatives are less advantageous.
