The Project will submerge an area of 8 km²; a large part of this is already water (river)<br />

now, the rest is a mosaic of secondary forest (regrowth of the last 20 years since the<br />

breaching of the dam) and agriculturally used areas. The birds living in this area can<br />

only be species which are adapted to live in this type of regenerating and man-made<br />

vegetation, vegetation types which are not in short supply in the wider area and in other<br />

parts of the country dominated by shifting cultivation. Therefore, the project will not
