Designation of thePFO’s security element will be closely coordinated with, or if necessary run by, the JFOSecurity <strong>Office</strong>r.3.2 PFO Support Staff Role in the Initial JFOThe PFO support staff will be organized in accordance with the NIMS. This organization isintended to support each of the five sections that could operate under the NIMS structure:<strong>Operations</strong>, Planning, Intelligence, Logistics, <strong>and</strong> Finance/Administration.3.2.1 Support to the initial JFO <strong>Operations</strong> SectionThe PFO, in concert with the JFO Coordination Group (leadership) <strong>and</strong> JFO <strong>Operations</strong>Section (execution), synchronizes <strong>and</strong> integrates the incident management operation. ThePFO support staff ensures effective management of the PFO’s priorities whilemaintaining focus on strategic <strong>and</strong> policy issues.3.2.2 Support to the initial JFO Planning SectionThe PFO support staff, in concert with the JFO, IAC, <strong>and</strong> the NOC, provides currentinformation to the PFO <strong>and</strong> JFO Coordination Group in order to: ensure situationalawareness, determine cascading effects of the incident area, identify nationalimplications, <strong>and</strong> determine specific areas of interest requiring strategic <strong>and</strong>/or long-termattention.3.2.3 Support to the Initial JFO Intelligence SectionAs outlined in section 4.4.1 of the SOP, an Intelligence Section may be established withinthe JFO- where advantageous to operations in a specific circumstance. In this case, thePFO support staff elements with intelligence gathering, sharing, <strong>and</strong> analysis capabilitiesprovide current information to the PFO <strong>and</strong> JFO Coordination Group to ensureintegration of classified analysis into the operational response.3.2.4 Support to the Initial JFO Logistics SectionOnce the PFO support staff receives an activation <strong>and</strong>/or deployment order, they willcoordinate administrative <strong>and</strong> logistical support required under ESF #5 for deployment<strong>and</strong> sustainment of the PFO <strong>and</strong> staff with the appropriate agency. Once integrated intothe initial JFO, the PFO Support staff liaisons will serve the JFO Logistics Section inproviding reach-back capability to identify <strong>and</strong> assist in mobilization of resources to meetthe JFO Logistics Section Chief’s requirements.3.2.5 Support to the initial JFO Finance/Administration SectionThe PFO support staff monitors all funding requirements under ESF #5 in order to ensurethat the PFO maintains awareness of all costs relating to the incident. Once integratedinto the initial JFO, the PFO Support staff liaisons will serve the JFOFinance/Administration Section in providing reach-back capability to identify financial<strong>and</strong> administrative assistance to meet the JFO Finance/Administration Section Chief’srequirements.3.2.6 Integration into the Augmented JFO159Version 8.3Interim Approval April 28, 2006
