European Union Primary Education Sector Support Programme
Research, programme development and materials development for
Foundation Phase Teacher Education, post-graduate scholarships,
bursaries for initial teacher education and seeding the establishment
Achievements include: support for 13 research and development
enrolments (98%) and graduates (93%) since the inception of the
programme in 2009; scholarship support for 7 Honours, 54 Masters
and 40 PhD students; 200 bursaries for African mother tongue
the establishment of the South African Journal for Early Childhood
2014/15 and has already established itself to the extent that it
is internationally accredited); the establishment of South African
Research Association for Early Childhood Education (SARAECE)
(a research association that became self-funding in 2014/15); the
conference; the development of a vibrant research culture that has
articles having been accepted for publication and 36 articles in various
of a teaching school linked to that campus.
