By the way, I shall note another piece of information as a food for thought as regards to
the cerebral structures which are involved in this meditation. The betweenbrain is a
peculiar collector of all kinds of sensitiveness. It directly participates in processes of
memory, sleep, instinctive behaviour, psychical reactions regulation, in adjustment of
various kinds of sensitivity and so on. Let’s take, for instance, hypothalamus – the
subthalamic zone of the betweenbrain, which has the weight of just around 5 grams?
Hypothalamus contains paramount centres of the vegetative nervous system. By and
large, this is exactly where the coordination of functions of sympathetic and
parasympathetic centres of the vegetative nervous system takes place, which centres,
say, keep the entire organism operating. Hypothalamus controls the main homeostasis
processes, i.e. supports the dynamic equilibrium of the internal environment during
changes of external conditions, by means of coordinated reactions. Moreover, in medulla
oblongata there is also a centre of the main nerve of the parasympathetic nervous
system, that is the longest of all cranial nerves — the vagus nerve branches of which
participate in the solar plexus formation.
But let’s go back to the meditation… Right from the centre of the brain (a conventional
middle centre), from the aforementioned hypothalamic area of the betweenbrain, further
through certain points on his or her head, a meditator leads the energy (which he or she
had accumulated in “Hara” and moved along the spine to the cerebrum) to the centre of
each Aspect, by turns. Hence, the person artificially activates his or her Aspects, thus
generating various initial emotional surges inside himself or herself, and then studies
them. The meditator’s goal is: to learn to discern the operation of each of the Aspects,
the result of which operation is manifested in daily life as certain emotional surges and
thoughts. Let’s consider the process of a person’s interaction with each of the main
Aspects during the meditation in greater detail.
In the beginning, the meditator works with the Right aspect. In the process of the
meditation performance, the Qi energy goes from the hypothalamic area of the
betweenbrain through the right amygdaloid nucleus located deep inside the cerebrum
temporal lobe. Then, through the point situated above the right ear, the energy arrived
directly to the sphere centre of the Right aspect.
