feelings and thoughts strengthening. In other words, one must not plunge into this
process stimulated by the Animal nature, must not participate in this fight against
himself or herself at the expense of his or her own power and resources.
Rigden: Perfectly true. Any fight begins on the battle field of human mind. One who
can quiet his or her anger is like a sage who has won the battle not even having
started it... So, the next meditation stage is as follows. After the meditator has restored
the state of inner peace, he or she switches attention to breathing and repeats the
scheme of the meditation beginning, i.e. fills “Hara” (the lower abdomen) with the Qi
energy through the hand chakrans. Then he or she leads this energy along the spine to
the ancient centre of brain (the conventional middle centre). However, now he or she
directs the energy from this centre to the left amygdaloid nucleus, through the point
located above the left ear, to the spherical centre of the Left aspect. And further he or
she works with his or her Left aspect, artificially starting to rotate the Left aspect’s
centre counter-clockwise, by means of attention and thought concentration. The task is
to feel the beginning of this Aspect activation, to sense what kind of emotional surges
the Aspect generates, thus creating a corresponding mood.
Usually, meditators feel the following gamut of surges: the feeling of pride, egoism,
temptation, increased libido, desire of secret power of others and so on. In one’s mind,
there can appear corresponding images relating to such feelings, to megalomania, lack of
restraints, sexual desires from a position of “alpha male” (or “alpha female”)
predominance, the so-called lust based on egocentrism, covetousness, yearning for
possessing someone or something. While the rotating Right aspect centre causes a sense
of heat, the spinning spherical centre of the Left aspect brings in an increasing sense of
cold.
Having experienced all emotional surges of the Left aspect, the meditator calms his or
her emotions once again, mentally stopping the rotation of the Aspect’s spherical centre.
Then he or she, as the Observer, again goes back to the conventional middle centre of
his or her consciousness (to the neutral position). He or she focuses on the state of
peace, silence, and feels the neutral position of all four Aspects. The physiological sense
of cold, the residual unpleasant emotions and feelings generated by the Left aspect’s
operation might still “issue background noise” for a while.
