AMBULANCE SERVICE<br />

9.30.030 Penalty.<br />

It is the purpose <strong>of</strong> this chapter, among other things, to protect the health, safety and public welfare <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Barbara</strong> by the reasonable regulation <strong>of</strong> ambulances in the <strong>City</strong>. The County <strong>of</strong> <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Barbara</strong>, hereinafter<br />

referred to as "County", adopted Ordinance No. 2881 (Chapter 5 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Barbara</strong> County <strong>Code</strong>) on August 23,<br />

1976, which provides for the regulation and licensing <strong>of</strong> ambulance service. Pursuant to said Ordinance, the County<br />

adopted the Emergency Medical Response Manual, hereinafter referred to as "EMRM." The <strong>City</strong> desires uniform<br />

regulation <strong>of</strong> ambulance service within both the <strong>City</strong> and County <strong>of</strong> <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Barbara</strong>. The <strong>City</strong> further desires to adopt<br />

the provisions <strong>of</strong> County Ordinance No. 2881 and regulations adopted pursuant to said Ordinance and to transfer the<br />

licensing and regulation <strong>of</strong> ambulance service to the County. (Ord. 3935 §1, 1978.)<br />

9.30.020 Adoption and Applicability.<br />

<strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Barbara</strong> County Ordinance No. 2881 (Chapter 5 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Santa</strong> <strong>Barbara</strong> County <strong>Code</strong>) and regulations<br />

promulgated pursuant thereto, which are on file with the <strong>City</strong> Clerk, are adopted by the <strong>City</strong> and shall apply within<br />

the territorial limits <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong>. The <strong>City</strong> further requires that any licensee for ambulance service under this chapter<br />

supply adequate insurance and agree to hold harmless and indemnify the <strong>City</strong>, its <strong>of</strong>ficers or employees from any<br />

damages, claims, liabilities, costs, suits or other expenses resulting from its operations that have been licensed under<br />

this chapter.<br />

The <strong>City</strong> desires to adopt the EMRM and grant the County the authority to make amendments thereto. Any and<br />

all such amendments, as and when they occur, shall be effective within the <strong>City</strong> upon the date <strong>of</strong> receipt by the <strong>City</strong><br />

Clerk <strong>of</strong> a certified copy <strong>of</strong> the amendment, but <strong>City</strong> can reject any such amendment if the <strong>City</strong> Council passes a<br />

resolution rejecting any such amendment within thirty (30) days after receiving the aforementioned certified copy <strong>of</strong><br />

any such amendment. Any such amendment shall be null and void in the <strong>City</strong> after such a rejecting resolution is<br />

approved. (Ord. 3935 §1, 1978.)<br />

9.30.030 Penalty.<br />

Any violation <strong>of</strong> this chapter is declared to be a misdemeanor and any such violation shall be punish-able by a fine<br />

not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00), or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six (6) months, or by both<br />

such fine and imprisonment. Every day that any violation <strong>of</strong> this chapter shall continue shall constitute a separate<br />

<strong>of</strong>fense. (Ord. 3935 §1, 1978.)<br />
