SEWER SERVICE CHARGES<br />

14.40.040 Administration.<br />

14.40.070 Uses Not Classified.<br />

There is hereby levied and imposed upon the owner or occupant <strong>of</strong> any premises within the <strong>City</strong>, having a sewer<br />

connection with the sewerage system <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong>, or otherwise discharging domestic sewage or industrial waste which<br />

ultimately passes through the <strong>City</strong> sewerage system, a sewer service charge as established by resolution <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong><br />

Council. (Ord. 3810, 1975.)<br />

14.40.020 Billing.<br />

The charges for sewer service shall be added to and collected with the charges for water service furnished by the<br />

<strong>City</strong> to the premises. The charges shall be billed upon the same bill as submitted for the charges for water services<br />

and shall be due and payable at the same time and in the same manner that such charges for water service are due and<br />

payable; providing however, separate bills are to be prepared for premises connected to the sanitary sewer system <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>City</strong> which are not provided water service by the <strong>City</strong>. (Ord. 4250, 1984; Ord. 3154 §3, 1966.)<br />

14.40.030 Collection.<br />

Any amount due for sewer service under this chapter shall be deemed a debt to the <strong>City</strong>, and any owner or<br />

occupant neglecting or refusing to pay the indebtedness shall be liable in an action in the name <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> in any<br />

court <strong>of</strong> competent jurisdiction for the amount. (Ord. 3154 §4, 1966.)<br />

14.40.035 Termination <strong>of</strong> Water Service for Delinquency in Paying Sewer Service Charges.<br />

If any bill for sewer service charges is not paid within twenty (20) days after its mailing date, water service to the<br />

consumer may be terminated in the same manner as provided in §14.16.010 and §14.16.020. (Ord. 4250, 1984; Ord.<br />

3625 §1, 1974.)<br />

14.40.040 Administration.<br />

It shall be the duty and the responsibility <strong>of</strong> the Finance Director to administer the provisions <strong>of</strong> this chapter.<br />

14.40.060 Water Meters.<br />

The <strong>City</strong> may require the owner or occupant <strong>of</strong> any premises using a private water supply or a combination <strong>of</strong> <strong>City</strong><br />

water and private water supply to install a meter to determine the total quantity <strong>of</strong> water used in the event the owner<br />

or occupant is to be billed on the basis <strong>of</strong> water consumption. (Ord. 4250, 1984; Ord. 3154 §7, 1966.)<br />

14.40.070 Uses Not Classified.<br />

For premises having a sewer connection for which a specific classification for sewer service charges has not been<br />

set forth in Section 14.40.010, the Finance Director shall charge such rates as he deems applicable for the type <strong>of</strong> use<br />

being made <strong>of</strong> the premises in relation to the uses made <strong>of</strong> classified premises and the rates fixed for the classified<br />

premises. (Ord. 3154 §8, 1966.)<br />
