(b) Police Department Employees: When a Police Department employee is on <strong>of</strong>ficially designated stand-by duty<br />

and such designation is made at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to commencement <strong>of</strong> that duty, the employee shall<br />

receive one (1) hour <strong>of</strong> pay for eight (8) hours <strong>of</strong> duty or fraction there<strong>of</strong>. When the stand-by assignment is made<br />

within forty-eight (48) hours <strong>of</strong> the commencement <strong>of</strong> the duty, the employee shall receive two (2) hours <strong>of</strong> pay for<br />

eight (8) hours <strong>of</strong> duty or fraction there<strong>of</strong>. Such pay shall be at straight time and shall be paid or taken as<br />

compensatory time at the discretion <strong>of</strong> the Chief <strong>of</strong> Police. (Ord. 3655 §1, 1974.)<br />

3.08.080 Vacation - Accrual and Computation.<br />

Full-time employees, other than temporary employees, shall be entitled to accrue and receive vacation with pay in<br />

accordance with the following schedule:<br />

(a) Officers, department heads, acting department heads and such other management personnel as designated by<br />

the <strong>City</strong> Administrator pursuant to Section 3.04.230 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Municipal</strong> <strong>Code</strong>:<br />

Length <strong>of</strong> Continuous Service Vacation Entitlement<br />

0 through 3rd year 4.6 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

4th and 5th years 6.2 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

6 years and over 7.7 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

At least forty (40) hours <strong>of</strong> said vacation shall be taken every six (6) months or shall be lost. If conditions prevent<br />

such usage, the <strong>City</strong> Administrator may approve the accumulating <strong>of</strong> said forty (40) hours subject to the limitation<br />

provided in Section 3.08.120.<br />

(b) For other employees designated as "Management" pursuant to Section 3.04.230 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Municipal</strong> <strong>Code</strong>:<br />

Length <strong>of</strong> Continuous Service Vacation Entitlement<br />

0 through 3rd year 3.1 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

4th and 5th years 4.6 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

6th through 10th years 6.2 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

11 years and over 7.7 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

(c) For sworn firefighters not designated as "Management" pursuant to Section 3.04.230 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Municipal</strong> <strong>Code</strong><br />

working shifts in excess <strong>of</strong> 40 hours per week:<br />

Length <strong>of</strong> Continuous Service Vacation Entitlement<br />

0 through 9th year Eleven (11) working shifts per calendar year.<br />

10 years and over Seventeen (17) working shifts per calendar year.<br />

(d) Police Department employees shall be entitled to accrue and receive vacation with pay in accordance with the<br />

schedule provided in Subsection (e).<br />

(e) General employees shall be entitled to accrue and receive vacation with pay according to the following<br />

schedule:<br />

Length <strong>of</strong> Continuous Service Vacation Entitlement<br />

0 through 5th year 3.1 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

6th through 10th year 4.6 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

11th through 24th year 6.2 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

24 years and over 7.7 hours per complete biweekly pay period <strong>of</strong> service rendered.<br />

(f) Prior continuous service <strong>of</strong> any persons presently employed by the <strong>City</strong> shall be taken into account in<br />

computing vacation entitlement as provided in this section. (Ord. 3866, 1976.)<br />
