It shall be the duty <strong>of</strong> the Chief <strong>of</strong> Police to cooperate with the <strong>City</strong> Transportation Engineer and other <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>City</strong> in the administration <strong>of</strong> the traffic laws and in developing ways and means to improve traffic conditions, and<br />

to carry out those duties specially imposed upon the Chief by this title and the traffic ordinances <strong>of</strong> this <strong>City</strong>. (Ord.<br />

10.08.020 Traffic Accident Studies by Transportation Engineer.<br />

Whenever the accidents at any particular location become numerous, the Chief shall cooperate with the <strong>City</strong><br />

Transportation Engineer in conducting studies <strong>of</strong> such accidents and determining remedial measures. (Ord. 2713<br />

§1(part), 1959; prior <strong>Code</strong> §31.3.)<br />

10.08.030 Traffic Accident Reports - Filed with Transportation Engineer.<br />

The Chief shall make traffic accident reports available for the use and information <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> Transportation<br />

Engineer. The <strong>City</strong> Transportation Engineer shall maintain an accident location file <strong>of</strong> information from the reports.<br />

10.08.040 Crossing Guards.<br />

The Council hereby delegates to the Transportation Engineer authority on behalf <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> to adopt standards<br />

under which the <strong>City</strong> shall provide school crossing guards. If it is determined that a crossing guard is warranted at a<br />

certain location, the Chief <strong>of</strong> Police shall assign a crossing guard to that location. It shall be the duty <strong>of</strong> the Chief to<br />

hire, train, supervise, and otherwise administer crossing guards. (Ord. 4031, 1979; Ord. 2713 §1(part), 1959; prior<br />

10.08.050 <strong>City</strong> Transportation Engineer - Duties.<br />

It shall be the general duty <strong>of</strong> the <strong>City</strong> Transportation Engineer, under the direction <strong>of</strong> the Director <strong>of</strong> Public<br />

Works to determine the location, installation and proper timing and maintenance <strong>of</strong> traffic control devices, to conduct<br />

engineering analyses <strong>of</strong> traffic accidents and to devise remedial measures, to conduct engineering investigation <strong>of</strong><br />

traffic conditions and to cooperate with other <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficials in the development <strong>of</strong> ways and means to improve traffic<br />

conditions, and to carry out any additional powers and duties imposed by ordinances <strong>of</strong> this <strong>City</strong>. (Ord. 2731<br />
