Pink 2 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 You’ll never guess what I did today! I still can’t believe that it really happened. It was fantastic! I had a ride in a hot-air balloon. This term, every class at our school has been learning all about flight. The library is full of books about flight and our classrooms have pictures, flight stories and poems pinned up for everyone to read. A pilot even came to our school to talk to us about aeroplanes, airports and flying. It was really great! Last week we all went to the airport and saw lots of interesting things, but our teachers saved the best for today: a hot-air balloon! ©R.I.C. Publications Low Resolution Images Display Copy When I arrived at school, there it was on the school grounds. It looked so big and beautiful floating there. The balloon was really colourful and there was a basket under it with ropes so it couldn’t float off. The whole school watched while some teachers climbed into the basket with the pilot. We were allowed to hold onto the ropes as the gas fire under the balloon pushed hot air into the balloon. It slowly rose into the sky. After it landed I just couldn’t believe it—Mrs Reid chose me to have a go! It was very noisy and a bit scary but I loved it.
