Raptor
When we think of dinosaurs, we often think of great big animals.
But the raptor (or velociraptor) was quite small. It was only
about as big as a turkey!
The raptor was like a turkey in other
ways, too. It moved on two legs and
had feathers. It also had a tail.
But raptors were also very different
from turkeys. Raptors had two big
‘hands’ with three sharp claws.
They also had three toes on
each foot with very sharp
claws, as well as a ‘spur’. The
claws were used to cut and
kill other animals. Raptors
were meat eaters.

Even with its big claws, a raptor could run very fast. And it was quite
a clever dinosaur. For its small size, it had quite a big brain.
This fast, smart animal, with its sharp teeth and claws, was a
small but deadly dinosaur!
