Orange 9 1 2 3 4 5 The wonder of worm poo Last week, my friend Kate found a worm at school. We showed it to our teacher, Miss Downey. She let everyone have a look. Our class was really interested, so Miss Downey said we could start a worm farm. First, we found out about worms and worm farms. A worm farm can be just a box where special worms live. These worms are called composting worms. They eat food scraps and turn them into ‘plant food’ which you can put in the ground to help plants grow. Next, we bought some big plastic boxes with lids. Miss Downey cut some holes in them. Then we put some newspaper and soil into the boxes. We collected our food scraps and put them into the boxes. Then we got some worms from a shop. We put them in the boxes, too. Now we have lots of worms. They eat all our food scraps. We have started a class vegetable garden, too. We put the worm ‘poo’ into the garden.
