recyclable materials. In the operational phase,
the use of electricity is decisive and the energy
efficiency of the plant is relevant.
For this reason, PCRs for lifts require the class
to be declared, calculated according to
ISO 25745-2, which Otis conservatively
declares to be B, while all other EPDs declare
A. In reality, even the energy efficiency
classification depends on the category of use of
the system, so it cannot be declared in advance
with certainty.

tutte le altre EPD dichiarano la A. In realtà anche
la classificazione di efficienza energetica dipende
dalla categoria d’uso dell’impianto, perciò non può
essere dichiarata a priori per certa, ma tant’è.

impact of transport in the various phases as a
whole is not particularly significant, however
Fujitec, which manufactures the system in the
East and imports it to the Netherlands by ship,
provides more details on this. The transport
phase A4* is only relevant for the environmental
impact indicators ODP (presence of ozone in the
stratosphere), AP (soil and water acidification
potential), EP (eutrophication potential) and
POCP (photochemical ozone creation potential),
mainly due to the impurities contained in the fuel
used by the ships.
Schindler, for its 1000, 1000 Plus, 3000 and
2000 Plus, focuses on two environmental
impact indicators, namely GWP tot
(total climate
change) and ADPF (use of fossil resources),
the relevant values of which derive from phase
A1* (raw materials), phase B6* (especially
the consumption of fossil resources, used to
produce the electricity that powers the plant)
and, to a lesser extent, phase B2* maintenance.
TKE for its Sinergy 100 is one of the few
companies that emphasises how crucial the
energy mix is. It is also the only one among
the EPDs examined which, as a potential
for improvement, suggests a reduction in lift
weight and it is no coincidence that this is
the case for the lift with the lowest assumed

2000 Plus, focalizza l’attenzione su due indicatori
di impatto ambientale, che sono il GWP tot
(cambiamento climatico totale) e l’ADPF (l’uso delle
risorse fossili), i cui valori rilevanti derivano dalla
fase A1* (materie prime), dalla fase B6* (specie
quanto a consumo delle risorse fossili, utilizzate per
produrre l’elettricità che alimenta l’impianto) e, in
misura minore, dalla fase B2* di manutenzione.
TKE per il suo Sinergy 100 è una delle poche
aziende che sottolinea come sia cruciale il mix
energetico di riferimento. Essa è anche l’unica
tra le EPD esaminate che, come potenzialità di
miglioramento, suggerisce una diminuzione del
peso dell’impianto e non è un caso che ciò venga
fatto per quell’ascensore di cui si ipotizza il
