personnel who may face an allegation in the
court and be liable on conviction to a fine
(and perhaps imprisonment under certain
circumstances).
Lift or escalator works can only be undertaken
by an appropriate registered contractor licensed
by EMSD, and the registered contractor (lift
and/or escalator) must employ ʻqualified
personsʼ, including registered engineers (lift
and/or escalator) and workers (lift and/or
escalator), to carry out such works on site. If a
registered contractor does not comply with all
the requirements stipulated in the Ordinance,
he/she may also be liable on conviction to a
fine (and perhaps imprisonment under certain
circumstances).
Registered workers need to carry out the works
properly on site and take adequate safety
precautions, or otherwise, they may be liable
on conviction to a fine. Registered engineers
have similar obligations as the registered
workers but engineers normally examine the
installations when new, after major alteration,
and periodically. Engineers have to ensure
the installations comply with the technical
requirements as stated in the Code of Practice
on the Design and Construction of Lifts and
Escalators (the Design Code hereinafter). In
persona responsabile è il personale in prima linea
che può essere accusato in tribunale e condannato
a una multa (e forse alla reclusione, in determinate
circostanze).
I lavori relativi agli ascensori o alle scale mobili
possono essere eseguiti solo da un’impresa
registrata autorizzata dall’EMSD; l’impresa
registrata (ascensori e/o scale mobili) deve
impiegare ʻpersone qualificateʼ, tra cui ingegneri
(ascensori e/o scale mobili) e operai (ascensori
e/o scale mobili) registrati, per eseguire tali
lavori in loco. Se l’appaltatore registrato non
rispetta tutti i requisiti previsti dall’Ordinanza,
può essere condannato a pagare un’ammenda
(ed eventualmente alla reclusione, in determinate
circostanze).
I lavoratori iscritti all’albo devono eseguire i
lavori in modo corretto sul sito e adottare adeguate
precauzioni di sicurezza, altrimenti possono essere
passibili di ammenda in caso di condanna. Gli
ingegneri iscritti all’albo hanno obblighi simili a
‘Code of Practice on the Design and Construction
of Lifts and Escalators’ (di seguito ‘Codice di
