5.11 Prohibited Practices<br />

2. The Merchant discount fee is any fee a Merchant pays to an Acquirer so that<br />

the Acquirer will acquire the Transactions of the Merchant.<br />

5.11.3 Minimum/Maximum Transaction Amount Prohibited<br />

A Merchant must not require, or indicate that it requires, a minimum or<br />

maximum Transaction amount to accept a valid and properly presented Card.<br />

5.11.4 Scrip-dispensing Terminals<br />

Cards must not be accepted at terminals that dispense scrip.<br />

5.11.5 Prohibited Transactions<br />

A Merchant must not submit for payment into interchange, and a Customer must<br />

not accept from a Merchant for submission into interchange, any Transaction<br />

that:<br />

1. Represents the refinancing or transfer of an existing Cardholder obligation<br />

that is deemed to be uncollectible, or<br />

2. Arises from the dishonor of a Cardholder’s personal check, or<br />

3. Arises from the acceptance of a Card at a terminal that dispenses scrip.<br />

5.11.6 Payment by Other Means<br />

A Merchant must not accept any payment from a customer in any other form<br />

(for example, cash or check) with respect to a charge for products or services<br />

reflected on a TID resulting from the use of a Card. A Merchant also must not<br />

accept a Card as payment for products or services for which the Merchant<br />

has received or expects to receive payment in any other form, whether from<br />

the customer or a third party.<br />

A disputed Transaction involving payment by other means may be eligible for<br />

chargeback under message reason code 4831 (Transaction Amount Differs).<br />
