An MPOS Terminal must comply with the Corporation’s requirements for POS Terminals, Hybrid<br />

POS Terminals (if Chip Cards are accepted), or Chip-only MPOS Terminals (if the MPOS Terminal<br />

is a Chip-only MPOS Terminal).<br />

Mobile Remote Payment<br />

Mobile Remote Payment is a payment functionality that is initiated by an enrolled Cardholder from<br />

a Cardholder-controlled mobile phone which is registered with the Cardholder’s Issuer and used<br />

for entry of the Cardholder’s PIN or mobile-specific credentials.<br />

Ownership<br />

As used herein, ownership has such meaning as the Corporation deems appropriate in its<br />

sole discretion given the context of the usage of the term and all facts and circumstances the<br />

Corporation deems appropriate to consider. As a general guideline, ownership often means to<br />

own indirectly, legally, or beneficially more than fifty percent (50%) of an entity.<br />

Participation<br />

An alternative term for Membership.<br />

Payment Facilitator<br />

A Merchant registered by an Acquirer to facilitate Transactions on behalf of Sub-merchants.<br />

Point of Interaction (POI)<br />

The location at which a Transaction occurs, as determined by the Corporation.<br />

POI Terminal<br />

Any attended or unattended POI device that meets the Corporation requirements and that permits<br />

a Cardholder to initiate and effect a Transaction in accordance with the Standards.<br />

POS Terminal<br />

An attended or unattended POI device located in or at a Merchant’s premises that meets the<br />

Corporation’s requirements, and that permits a Cardholder to initiate and effect a Transaction for<br />

the purchase of products or services sold by such Merchant with a Card in accordance with the<br />

Standards.<br />

Principal Member, Principal Customer<br />

A financial institution that is eligible and approved to be a Member pursuant to Rule 1.1.2 and is a<br />

Class A Member. “Principal Customer” and “Principal” are alternative terms for Principal Member.<br />
