4.2 General <strong>Rules</strong> for Use of the Mark<br />

A Mark may only be used by Customers and Licensees to identify and promote<br />

Activities, in compliance with the Standards.<br />

4.2.2 Compliance<br />

Any use of a Mark must comply with the License, the Standards, and all of the<br />

Corporation’s reproduction, usage, and artwork standards as may be in effect<br />

from time to time.<br />

4.2.3 Required Use<br />

Each Customer must prominently display the applicable Mark in all advertising,<br />

marketing, promotional, and collateral materials promoting a program or service<br />

offered by the Corporation. The inclusion of the <strong>MasterCard</strong> Word Mark in the<br />

headline or title, or the prominent display of the <strong>MasterCard</strong> Word Mark on the<br />

first page of the offering, satisfies this requirement.<br />

4.2.4 Review of Solicitations<br />

The Corporation reserves the right to review samples and approve or refuse to<br />

approve use of a Solicitation. Amended samples, if required as a result of this<br />

review, also must be forwarded to the Corporation for review.<br />

4.2.4.1 Linked Card Programs >><br />

Without the express prior written consent of the Corporation, an Issuer may<br />

not use a Solicitation or conduct any advertising, promotion, marketing, or the<br />

like in connection with a Card Program that is in any way linked to a different<br />

payment card program.<br />

4.2.5 Signage System<br />

The Corporation’s interlocking circles signage system is employed when one or<br />

more brands using the <strong>MasterCard</strong> interlocking circles device is accepted at a<br />

point of interaction. The system requires the consecutive vertical or horizontal<br />

display of the brand Marks in the following sequence—<strong>MasterCard</strong>, <strong>MasterCard</strong><br />

Electronic, Maestro, Cirrus. Of the four brands, only those brands that are<br />

accepted at a particular point of interaction may be displayed there. The<br />

<strong>MasterCard</strong>, Maestro, and Cirrus brands must be displayed on an ATM. The<br />

<strong>MasterCard</strong> Electronic brand mark must not be displayed on an ATM.<br />
