8.4 Requirements for Specific Transaction Types<br />

8.4.4.4 Mobile <strong>MasterCard</strong> PayPass-M/Chip Transactions<br />

8.4.5 Quick Payment Service (QPS) Program<br />

A Quick Payment Service (QPS) Transaction is a Card-read face-to-face >><br />

Transaction approved by the Issuer that occurs at a Merchant in an eligible<br />

Merchant category and for an amount equal to or less than the applicable<br />

chargeback protection amount, as defined by Merchant country in Appendix C<br />

of the Chargeback Guide. For each QPS Transaction:<br />

1. Use of signature as the CVM is at the Merchant’s option; and<br />

2. The provision of a Transaction receipt to the Cardholder is at the Merchant’s<br />

option. The Merchant must provide a receipt at the Cardholder’s request.<br />

Chargeback protection applies with respect to message reason codes 4802 >><br />

and 4837. The Corporation will populate PDS 0044 (Program Participation<br />

Indicator), subfield 2 (QPS/PayPass Chargeback Eligibility Indicator) with a the<br />

value I (Ineligible for Chargeback) in the First and Second Presentment/1240<br />

messages specifying that a chargeback is invalid for properly identified QPS<br />

Transactions equal to or less than the applicable chargeback protection amount.<br />

8.4.6 Purchase with Cash Back Transactions<br />

Purchase with cash back is an optional service that a Merchant may offer, with<br />

the prior approval of its Acquirer, at the POI in a Card-present, face-to-face<br />

Transaction environment only. The following requirements apply to purchase<br />

with cash back Transactions:<br />

1. A purchase with cash back Transaction is a Transaction arising from the use<br />

of a Debit <strong>MasterCard</strong> Card but not any other type of Card.<br />

2. In a purchase with cash back Transaction, cash may only be provided in<br />

combination with a purchase.<br />

3. Acquirers and Merchants that choose to provide purchase with cash back<br />

Transactions first must establish an education program for Merchant<br />

employee staff, including but not limited to POS Terminal operators.<br />

4. Acquirers or Merchants may establish a minimum and maximum cash back<br />

amount of the purchase with cash back Transaction, provided that:<br />

a. Any such minimum or maximum amount is applied uniformly to all<br />

Cardholders.<br />

b. Any minimum amount is not greater than the minimum amount<br />

established for any other payment means accepted at the Merchant<br />

location.<br />
