8.4 Requirements for Specific Transaction Types<br />

1. The Merchant must send an Authorization Request/0100 message for USD<br />

1 (or the approximate equivalent in one whole unit of local currency; for<br />

example, EUR 1 or JPY 1).<br />

2. The Issuer must approve the Transaction.<br />

3. The combined amount of the PayPass taps must be equal to or less than the<br />

applicable chargeback protection amount.<br />

4. The maximum time period from the first PayPass tap until the First<br />

Presentment/1240 message is generated must be 14 calendar days or less.<br />

Upon the Cardholder’s request, the Merchant must provide a list of the<br />

PayPass taps that were combined into a First Presentment/1240 message.<br />

For post-authorized aggregated <strong>MasterCard</strong> PayPass transit Transaction<br />

identification requirements, see Rule B.2.1 in Appendix B.<br />

8.4.4.2 PayPass-only Acceptance<br />

Where approved by the Corporation (either on a country-by-country or<br />

case-by-case basis), Acquirers may sponsor Merchants that deploy POS<br />

Terminals that utilize only the <strong>MasterCard</strong> PayPass contactless payment<br />

functionality. Each Acquirer must ensure that, should any of its Merchant(s)<br />

approved by the Corporation to deploy POS Terminals that utilize only the<br />

<strong>MasterCard</strong> PayPass contactless payment functionality subsequently deploy<br />

POS Terminals with contact payment functionality, such POS Terminals accept<br />

and properly process Transactions.<br />

The Corporation has approved the following for PayPass-only acceptance:<br />

1. Merchants that deploy single-vehicle parking meters (MCC 7523)<br />

2. Merchants that deploy single-ride bus fare collection devices (MCC 4131)<br />

3. Merchants that use the following MCCs:<br />

a. MCC 4111—Transportation—Suburban and Local Commuter Passenger,<br />

including Ferries<br />

b. MCC 4112—Passenger Railways<br />

c. MCC 4789—Transportation Services—not elsewhere classified<br />

4. Merchants located in Belgium, Canada, Germany, Italy, Poland, the >><br />

Netherlands, Russian Federation, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey,<br />

Ukraine, or the United Kingdom, or the United States that deploy any type<br />

of parking meters, including multiple-vehicle parking meters (MCC 7523).<br />

5. Merchants located in Germany, Poland, Russian Federation, Slovenia, Spain,>><br />

Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, or the United Kingdom that deploy “select<br />

first” vending machines (MCC 5499).<br />

6. Subject to Corporation approval on a case-by-case basis, Merchants >><br />

operating mass events, festivals, and sports arenas located in Hungary,<br />

Poland and the United Kingdom under the following MCCs:<br />
