Organization of this Section<br />

<strong>Rules</strong> in this Section 15b are variances and additions to the “global” <strong>Rules</strong> that<br />

apply in the U.S. Region. These <strong>Rules</strong> relate to Debit <strong>MasterCard</strong> Cards where a<br />

PIN is used as the Cardholder verification method.<br />

Definitions<br />

Solely for the purposes of this Section 15b, the following terms have the<br />

meanings set forth below.<br />

1. “Debit” or “Debit <strong>MasterCard</strong> Card” shall mean any Access Device or Card<br />

that, when presented for payment in the United States, accesses, debits,<br />

holds, or settles funds from a demand deposit or asset account and where<br />

PIN is used as the Cardholder verification method.<br />

2. “Service Marks” shall mean (i) from an issuing perspective, the <strong>MasterCard</strong><br />

Word Mark and/or the <strong>MasterCard</strong> Brand Marks as those terms are defined<br />

in the Definitions chapter of this manual, and (ii) from an acquiring<br />

perspective, the <strong>MasterCard</strong> Word Mark and/or the <strong>MasterCard</strong> Brand Marks<br />

as those terms are defined in the Definitions chapter of this manual and the<br />

MAESTRO trademarks, trade names, service marks, logotypes, and trade<br />

designations made available for use pursuant to License by the Corporation.<br />

3. “Maestro Marks” shall mean the MAESTRO trademarks, trade names, service<br />

marks, logotypes, and trade designations made available for use pursuant to<br />

license by the Corporation.<br />

4. “Cirrus Marks” shall mean the CIRRUS trademarks, trade names, service<br />

marks, logotypes, and trade designations made available for use pursuant to<br />

license by the Corporation.<br />

3.9 Transaction Requirements<br />

3.9.6 PIN-based Debit Transactions<br />

Customers may choose to issue Debit <strong>MasterCard</strong> Cards where a PIN is used as<br />

the Cardholder verification method and/or acquire Transactions effected with<br />

such Cards as defined in this Section 15b. If Customers so choose, the rules<br />

contained in the Maestro Global <strong>Rules</strong> will apply to such Transactions except<br />

1. for the requirements contained in sections 1.2 Eligibility to be a Customer,<br />

1.3 Application to be a Customer (as those requirements relate to issuing<br />

Activity), 1.7 Termination of License, 4.5 Display on Cards, and 6.1.1 b.1.<br />

Eligible Cards, of that rulebook, and<br />
