In this study, we introduce a single store multi-product order quantity
model incorporating product assortment decision for perishable
products that maximizes the retailer's profit under shelf space and
backroom storage capacity constraints. The demand rate of an item is
a deterministic and multivariate function of selling price per unit and
on-display stock level. The retailer simultaneously decides the choice
of brands to stock, allocation of scarce shelf space among stocked
brands, selling prices, and ordering quantities of stocked brands. The
results are discussed with numerical examples to identify how the
variation in the total profit is apportioned to changes in demand
parameters.
