Applications of Kriging in Wireless Networks

Kriging is a set of interpolations techniques based on the methods of
geostatistics which is a subject concerned with spatial data. This
paper presents two applications of Kriging in wireless networks. The
first application is to estimate network coverage in wireless networks,
and we have shown that Kriging is a more robust approach than
neural networks and regression-based approaches to this problem.
The second application is to estimate user mobility in ad hoc wireless
networks. We present Kriging-based models for both entity-based
mobility estimation (e.g., estimating the velocity and direction of an
individual mobile user) and group-based location estimation (e.g.,
estimating the number of mobile users in a particular region), and
investigate their merits.

Designing and managing the order fulfillment system are major
challenges for volume automotive producers. In these large scale
systems high product variety and diverse customer needs are typical.
To increase the performance of the order fulfillment system,
producers are providing their dealers with software tools that enable
them to search for vehicles to meet customer demand not only in
their local stock but also in other dealers' local stock and in the
production pipeline.
