visibly in order to cope with the complexity of the problems which<br />

these systems are engaged with. The number of components that are<br />

used to construct these systems also ha<strong>ve</strong> an increasing impact to<br />

this situation. This both increases the cost of these systems<br />

extensi<strong>ve</strong>ly and also re<strong>ve</strong>als the requirement for a more challenging<br />

reliability system due to se<strong>ve</strong>re limitations for component redundancy.<br />

The defense industry is one of the areas that the reliability studies are<br />

frequently used in. The defense industry contains se<strong>ve</strong>ral examples of<br />

complex and expensi<strong>ve</strong> engineering systems such as missiles,<br />

aircrafts, attack helicopters, battle tanks, etc. As these defense<br />

systems are used for purposes regarding the critical mission of<br />

national security in hard operational conditions, the need for durability<br />

and performance satisfaction requires the need of a more efficient<br />

reliability study for these specific areas. In this study, a detailed<br />

literature sur<strong>ve</strong>y is performed regarding the reliability estimation for<br />

missile systems. This literature sur<strong>ve</strong>y is planned to open a vision for<br />

future studies in this area.<br />
