Applicability of Process Control Techniques in PET Strapping<br />

In this research, the concept of applicability of Process Control<br />

Techniques (PCTs) to PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) Strapping<br />

Production is presented. PCTs are <strong>ve</strong>ry important for process<br />

impro<strong>ve</strong>ment and quality that has become one of the main business<br />

strategies and probably the most important way to achie<strong>ve</strong> business<br />

success and sustainability in competiti<strong>ve</strong> world market. Therefore, this<br />

paper concerns about PCTs for the impro<strong>ve</strong>ment of the technical<br />

performance of PET Strapping Production, which is significantly lower<br />

in cost and more elastic than steel hoops.<br />

PCTs ha<strong>ve</strong> been widely implemented in many industries, but we<br />

couldn't find any detailed studies in the literature about the<br />

application of PET Strapping Production, which has increasing<br />

popularity rather than steel loop.<br />

Se<strong>ve</strong>ral PCTs such as histograms, control charts, process capability<br />

studies are used in order to characterize the PET strapping<br />

production. In this study, four main critical to quality characteristics-<br />

CTQs (breaking strength, width, thickness, and total weight) as the<br />

product variables are analysed separately in order to identify the<br />

status of the obtained data whether they are in statistical control or<br />

not. Then, a framework has been de<strong>ve</strong>loped as a tool for a research<br />

on the applicability of PCTs in PET Strapping Production.<br />
