Ali Abdi Maalim: My name is Ali Abdi Maalim I am from Mandera township and I would like to give two questions across.
The first one is the Constitution allows freedom of worship of any religion of your choice if that is the case. We the Muslim
community of Kenya we like to practice that religion and the Constitution of Kenya to allow us to have Islamic bank for the
Islamic bank because there are very many investers who would like to come to Kenya and invest in Kenya and give the service.
I mean loans to muslims or non muslims of Kenya origin so we want to we would like you to right that programme so that in
future we have some facilities that is one.
Two is we have been told that ninty five or ninty eight percent of the community North Eastern are pastrolist maybe five or
three percent are farmers. Farms along the dawa river from Bipo one up to down though the river is a seasonal river this water
plays to eight or nine months of the year so we use irrigation. We would like the government to recognise us so that NGOs
come and assist us in technical and other facilities. And also to market our produce I remember some time back I harvest the
maize from my farm and I took them to the cereal board they told me that I told them to buy and they told me no such
constitution that will allow them to process my maize I had to dispose them just in the market because I had it for almost six
months or over.
So please this maize coming from may be some times they come from abroad we would like some something to be done about
it the other one is about presidential actions. The president should be below the law should not be above the law. His elections
should be separate from other elections I mean MPs and the local council and I think any president any person who get more
than fifty percent fifty point five percent should be declared the president of Kenya and not subject to seven I mean
(inaudible)--------- of province then this there is somebody from a form four or a graduate so that we don’t have hiyo lack
behind in economical you know (inaudible) ------ finally also the local government the local members local concillors should be
a person of form four and not below because they will also be lugged behind thank you very much.

iheshimiwe na watumie sheria yao. Basi tunaomba serikali isiangalie mtu ukisema ati anataka kutumia mila yake kwa jicho
mbaya bali nchi kama Nigeria ambaye ni Common Wealth wamekubalia maprovinces ama majimbo zake zitumike zitumie
sheria ya kislamu kwa sasa tunaona childrens home itaondoa uwezo ya kadhi tunaomba serikali isifanye hivyo mbali ifanye
nguvu uwezo ya Kadhi, Kadhi pia awe mtu amekwami mtu ameelewa ako na elimu na mtu anafaa ipasavyo cha pili basic rights
mimi taongea kitu ambayo haijaongewa na watu wengi lakini naona ni muhimu hiyo ni information I mean basic rights kwa
wakati wa sasa sisi tukiwa watu wa North Eastern hatuna fursa ya magazeti umeshuhudia ukusikia KBC sasa badhi yetu
