environment demands speed, flexibility and
perseverance.
Managing a business is more daunting and
exhilarating than ever. Global companies
need strong leadership for these turbulent
times. Knowledge and skill are obviously
necessary, but managers require more. They
must embrace uncertainty, accept ambiguity,
and acknowledge the incomplete nature of
themselves and their organisations. They must
live by the principle that successful leadership
means constant learning and renewal.
We at ESADE and the University of St.Gallen
are excited to help you begin your quest to become
a strong leader through our Programme
for Leadership Development. The PLD is an
innovative and rigorous offering from two of
Europe’s most highly recognized institutions of
higher management education. It is designed
to give you a portfolio of knowledge, skills and
personal awareness that will make you a much
more effective leader. Our aim is to help you
obtain your greatest personal and professional
aspirations. We hope you consider joining us in
this highly engaging endeavor.
The curriculum includes all fundamental areas
of General Management as well as Management
Functions, and also elements of personal
development and soft skills in the LEADprogramme.
The curriculum has been jointly
developed by ESADE and St.Gallen and is
delivered by faculty from both universities.
Participants benefit from the learning environments
of two top European schools. The
LEAD-programme, developed by ESADE as an
essential part of the PLD, allows participants to
develop key competencies at the same time as
learning leadership concepts.
Participants earn a Diploma of Advanced
Studies (Diplom der Weiterbildung) from
the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. The
diploma is co-signed by ESADE indicating a
joint programme diploma and graduates join
the powerful ESADE alumni network. Graduates
from the programme have the opportunity
to continue their studies by using credits on the
St.Gallen part-time MBA.
Objective
The PLD is the ideal development programme
for young executives and high potentials with
management responsibilities within their
companies and several years of work experience.
Participants can accelerate their career
by developing key Leadership skills. Participants
will receive general management and
leadership training that will prepare them for
senior positions in the future. In addition to
the classroom training, candidates will have to
complete an individual or group assignment to
complete their studies, e.g. either a leadership
project or a thesis.
Structure
The PLD consist of 38 days of classroom training,
organized in four modules of one week
(five days, Monday–Friday), and six weekendmodules
(three days, Thursday–Saturday).
Modules are conducted on campus in St.Gallen
and in Barcelona with additional away modules
in London.
Admission
3 years work experience, fluency in English,
Bachelor degree or proven track record in
industry.
Target group
The Programme for Leadership Development
is ideal for high-potential junior to midmanagement
candidates or for candidates
with technical or specialist experience. The
programme is an international education
experience in general management and attracts
candidates from a broad range of industries
and work backgrounds.
