polyresorc<strong>in</strong>ol cha<strong>in</strong> 33 (Fig. 9). The cha<strong>in</strong>s are assembled via <strong>in</strong>tercalation<br />

of the orthogonal anthracene substituents to give a pseudo 2D net 34<br />

[53]. The result<strong>in</strong>g small cavity (~ 3.5 Å height for the free space) accommodates<br />

one guest molecule via hydrogen bond<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
