These processes encompass <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ner work<strong>in</strong>gs of stars <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>for</strong>mation <strong>and</strong> modification of materials <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> cold reaches of <strong>in</strong>terstellar space.<br />

Specific objectives <strong>for</strong> cont<strong>in</strong>ued advancement of this field <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> com<strong>in</strong>g decade <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>the</strong><br />

follow<strong>in</strong>g:<br />

<strong>and</strong><br />

• Underst<strong>and</strong> presolar processes recorded <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> materials of primitive bodies;<br />

• Study condensation, accretion, <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>for</strong>mative processes <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> solar nebula;<br />

• Determ<strong>in</strong>e <strong>the</strong> effects <strong>and</strong> tim<strong>in</strong>g of secondary processes on <strong>the</strong> evolution of primitive bodies;<br />

• Assess <strong>the</strong> nature <strong>and</strong> chronology of planetesimal differentiation<br />

Subsequent sections exam<strong>in</strong>e each of <strong>the</strong>se objectives <strong>in</strong> turn, identify critical questions to be<br />

addressed, <strong>and</strong> suggest future <strong>in</strong>vestigations <strong>and</strong> measurements that could provide answers.<br />
