MacKINNON, Daniel Walter AFGHANISTAN<br />
Daniel was born in the Etobicoke, Ontario in 1985. He joined the Army and served<br />
with 2 RCR in Afghanistan. Daniel is presently still serving.<br />

MacKINNON, Donald John “Duchie” WWII<br />
Donald was born in 1925 in Sydney, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the Army and served<br />
with the North <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> Highlanders during World War II. He was killed in<br />
action in Holland and is buried on Groesbeek <strong>Canadian</strong> War Cemetery in Holland.<br />
He was awarded the War Medal 1939-45, the <strong>Canadian</strong> Volunteer Service Medal<br />
with Clasp, the France and Germany Star, and the 1939-45 Star. Dutchie’s name is<br />
in the Book of Remembrance in the Peace Tower in Ottawa.<br />

MacKINNON, John Steven WWII<br />
John was born in 1921 in Sydney, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the Army and served with<br />
the Princess Fusiliers in Italy where he contracted malaria. He died in 1945 at the<br />
Military Hospital in Halifax from complications of malaria John was awarded the<br />
War Medal 1939-45, the <strong>Canadian</strong> Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, the George<br />
VI Medal, the France and Germany Star, the 1939-45 Star, and the Italy Star. John’s<br />
name is in the Book of Remembrance in the Peace Tower in Ottawa.<br />

MacKINNON, John Murdock WWI<br />
John was born in Kinloch, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the Army and served with the<br />
185 th Battalion of the Cape Breton Highlanders in France and Europe during World<br />
War I. John was a member of Captain Angus L. MacDonald <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #132<br />
in Inverness.<br />
