<strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>/Nunavut <strong>Command</strong> of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong><br />
HURSHMAN, John WWI<br />
John enlisted at the age of 27 with the “F” Company of the 66 th Princess Louise<br />
Fusiliers in Halifax on October 29, 1914. He remained in England only a few months<br />
before crossing to France with the 13 th Battalion. He was wounded at the Battle of<br />
Vimy Ridge and then sent to a hospital in Kent, England, where he died on April 23,<br />
1917 from the effects of his wounds. Private Hurshman was buried in the <strong>Canadian</strong><br />
Corner of the Military Cemetery in Orpington, Kent.<br />

HURSHMAN, Raymond WWI<br />
Raymond enlisted on August 18, 1915 with the No. 3 Company of the 1 st <strong>Canadian</strong><br />
Garrison Artillery. He served as a Sergeant for three years and three months at Fort<br />
Charlotte and was on a draft for overseas when the Armistice was announced.<br />

ILNITSKI, Kenneth Joseph PEACETIME<br />
Kenneth was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1944. He joined the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Navy<br />
and served at HMCS York, HMCS/CFB Cornwallis, HMCS Assiniboine, ATC,<br />
RCSCC Adm. Mountbatten, HMCS Stadacona, 19 Wing Comox as General Safety<br />
Officer, Point Edward Naval Base, and HMCS Acadia. Kenneth has been a member<br />
of Clementsport <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #122 for 39 years.<br />

JACKSON, Kevin D. PEACETIME<br />
Kevin was born in 1939 in Preston, Lancashire, in the United Kingdom. He joined<br />
the <strong>Royal</strong> Navy in 1956 and took his basic training at HMS Raleigh. He served for<br />
15 years on the following ships and bases: HMS Centaur, Caryssoot, Submarine<br />
Depot Ship, Blackwood, Duncansby Head, and AFD58 (Admiralty Floating Dock).<br />
He took his engineering training at HMS Sultan. Kevin has been a member of<br />
Clementsport <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #122 for two years.<br />
