SAMPSON, Reginald WWII<br />

Reginald was born in Inverness, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the <strong>Canadian</strong> Army and<br />

served in Europe during World War II.<br />

SAMSON, Alphonse Thomas WWII<br />

Alphonse was born on August 13, 1906 in Petit de Grat, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the <strong>Royal</strong><br />

<strong>Canadian</strong> Air Force on December 1, 1941. He service unit was H.S.L. 208 High-Speed<br />

Launch Crash Boat. He served in Canada and on the high seas before being discharged<br />

on September 11, 1945. He was awarded the <strong>Canadian</strong> Volunteer Service Medal with<br />

Clasp and the 1939-45 Star. Alphonse married Kathleen Jabalee on November 29, 1943<br />

and they raised four children. He worked in North Sydney on the wharf for the C.N.<br />

Terminal as a stevedore and owned a couple of general stores in town. He was a member<br />

of Arichat <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #150 and Branch #08 in North Sydney for a total of 30 years.<br />

Alphonse passed away in the Veterans Wing in North Sydney on April 15, 1990.<br />

SAMSON, Michael SPECIAL DUTY AREA & PEACETIME<br />

Michael was born on December 7, 1968 in Antigonish, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the<br />

<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Navy on July 19, 1988 and served on HMCS Iroquois in Canada as<br />

well as in Croatia, and Bahrain. Discharged on November 9, 2009, Michael is father<br />

to a boy and a girl. He was awarded the UN Protection Force in Yugoslavia<br />

(UNPROFOR), the <strong>Canadian</strong> Forces Peacekeeping Service Medal (CPSM), the<br />

Southwest Asia Service Medal (SWASM), and the <strong>Canadian</strong> Forces Decoration. He<br />

is now employed at Stanfield international Airport as a firefighter and first response.<br />

SANFORD, R. Borden WWII<br />

R. Borden was born in 1920 in Halifax, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong><br />

Air Force and was stationed in Newfoundland during World War II. He has been a<br />

member of Clementsport <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #122 for 8 years.<br />
