<strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>/Nunavut <strong>Command</strong> of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong><br />
GAUTHIER, Romeo A. PEACETIME<br />
Romeo was born in 1944 in Moncton, New Brunswick. He joined the Army in 1963<br />
and served in Canada with the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Electrical and Mechanical Engineers<br />
Militia. He also served three years as a Vehicle Tech. Romeo had to leave the Militia<br />
because of his job commitments. He has been a member of Clementsport <strong>Legion</strong><br />
Branch #122 for 12 years.<br />

GAY, George L. WWI<br />
George survived half a dozen bloody battles. He signed up with the 85 th Battalion<br />
on October 15, 1915 and sailed overseas one year and a day later. He reached France<br />
on February 17, 1917 and was first engaged as a stretcher bearer at Vimy Ridge<br />
where he was blown up. He spent some time in hospital in France but managed to<br />
take part in the battles of Avion, Passchendaele, Amiens, Arras and Cambrai, from<br />
where he was again sent to hospital, arriving in England on November 15, 1918.<br />
He was 22 years of age when he enlisted and has crowded more than the experiences<br />
of a lifetime into his last three years.<br />

GIFFIN, Lester Douglas WWI<br />
Lester enlisted with his brother, Randolph in March 1916. He was transferred to the<br />
85 th in England and sailed for France with the first unit of the 85 th in February 1917.<br />
He was attached to a transport station of his battalion until April 1918 and from that<br />
time until September, was engaged in several big battles near Cambrai and Amiens.<br />
In September, Private Giffin was invalided out of the lines and sent to England where<br />
he convalesced until the Armistice was signed.<br />

GEHUE, Clyde A. WWII<br />
Clyde was born in Bear River, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> in 1927. He joined the Army and served<br />
in Canada during World War II. Clyde was a member of the Lawrencetown <strong>Legion</strong><br />
Branch #112 before he passed away in 2007.<br />
