<strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>/Nunavut <strong>Command</strong> of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong><br />

BENOIT, James S. WWI<br />

James was born to Simon and Elizabeth Benoit in Tracadie, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> on July<br />

25, 1889. Prior to enlisting to fight in World War I, he had served with the military<br />

in the <strong>Canadian</strong> Field Battery and was also a 25-year old single grocery clerk. He<br />

joined the Western 31 st Battalion in Calgary, Alberta as a Private on May 17, 1915<br />

and was later killed in action. James was a brother to Rod Benoit of Tracadie and<br />

he never married. His name is in the Book of Remembrance in Ottawa.<br />

BIERHORST, Frederik PEACETIME<br />

Frederick was born in The Netherlands in 1946. He joined the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Army<br />

in 1965 and took his training at RCR Depot in London. He served in Canada,<br />

Germany, and Cyprus. Frank was also the RSM of CFRS Cornwallis. He has been<br />

a member of Clementsport <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #122 for 17 years.<br />

BLANCHARD, Charles WWII & KOREA<br />

Charles was born in Inverness, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the Army and served with the<br />

North <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> Highlanders in Europe during World War II. He also served in<br />

the Korean War. Charles was a member of Captain Angus L. MacDonald <strong>Legion</strong><br />

Branch #132 in Inverness.<br />

BOUDREAU, David J. PEACETIME<br />

David was born in 1945 in Minto, New Brunswick. He joined the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong><br />

Navy in 1962 and did his basic training at HMCS Cornwallis, but ended up at the<br />

<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Air Force in 1966, taking his Air Force basic training at St. Jean,<br />

Quebec. He served for 36 years at: Halifax, NS; Beauséjour, MB; St. Margaret’s<br />

and Gagetown, NB; Goose Bay, Labrador; Kamloops, BC; Ottawa, ON; Baden-<br />

Baden, West Germany; Lagos, Nigeria; and Cold Lake, AB. David has been a<br />

member of Clementsport <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #122 for 27 years.<br />
