<strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>/Nunavut <strong>Command</strong> of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong><br />
BAXTER, Barry Merton WWII<br />
Barry was born in South Range, Digby County, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> in 1923. He joined the<br />
<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Air Force and took his basic training in Quebec then moved on to<br />
Ottawa before going overseas. He served in general duties as a cook throughout his<br />
involvement in the war in England, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland. Barry<br />
has been a member of Clementsport <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #122 for 51 years.<br />

BAYERS, Louis WWI<br />
Louis, from North Dartmouth, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>, enlisted with the 25 th <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong><br />
Battalion, becoming a member of the 63 rd Halifax Rifles before going overseas on<br />
February 25, 1915. Experiencing a great deal of hard fighting, he was at the Battle<br />
of Courcelette where he was wounded in the left knee. This severe injury sent him<br />
to a hospital in England for over a year. He then returned to France and became a<br />
victim of the German gas fumes; his condition compelled him to return to England<br />
in September, 1918.<br />

BEATON, Bernard WWI<br />
Bernard was born in Inverness, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the Army and served with<br />
the 21 st Infantry Battalion of the <strong>Canadian</strong> Expeditionary Forces in France and<br />
Europe during World War I. Bernard was a member of Captain Angus L. MacDonald<br />
<strong>Legion</strong> Branch #132 in Inverness.<br />

BEATON, Alex Joe WWII<br />
Alex joined the Army and served with the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada during<br />
World War II. He was killed in action in Ortona, Italy on December 26, 1943.<br />
