Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion BROWN, Clarence Archibald “Clarie” WWII Clarie was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1920. He joined the Canadian Army in 1942, arriving at Canadian Base Ordnance Depot at Bordon Hants, United Kingdom in August of that year. In 1944, he sailed for Italy and in December became attached to the 4 th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards, serving in Italy, France, Germany, and Holland during the liberation in 1945. He volunteered to remain as part of a reconnaissance regiment designated 17 th Duke of York’s Royal Canadian Hussars, which consisted of volunteers from several other units. He was transferred to Bunde, Germany. Clarie was among the last of the Canadians to leave Europe in May of 1946. He ended his military service with the Canadian Army on September 17, 1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Defence Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, and the War Medal 1939-45. Clarie was a member of the Fairview Legion Branch #142. He died in 2008. Submitted by the Fairview Branch #142 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BROWN, I. H. WWI I. H. Brown enlisted in “H” Company of the 64 th Regiment on August 16, 1915 and sailed overseas the following spring. In England, he was transferred to the 25 th and fought at Courcelette, Vimy Ridge and Hill 70 where he was wounded. He returned to England after many months of noble service. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BURKE, Dougall WWI Dougall was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia. He enlisted in the Army and served in Europe with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I. Submitted by the Inverness Branch #132 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BURKE, Danny WWII Danny was born in Inverness, Nova Scotia. He joined the Army and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in Northwest Europe during World War II.
