John was born in Mabou, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the Army and served with the<br />

Governor General’s Foot Guards (tank regiment) in Northwest Europe during World<br />

War II. John was a member of Captain Angus L. MacDonald <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #132<br />

in Inverness.<br />
