<strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>/Nunavut <strong>Command</strong> of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong><br />

BOYD, Bradley PEACETIME<br />

Bradley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA in 1935. He joined the <strong>Royal</strong><br />

<strong>Canadian</strong> Navy in 1953 and took his basic training at HMCS Cornwallis. He then<br />

served on many ships, at Stadacona and Shearwater, as well as with NATO. Bradley<br />

has been a member of Clementsport <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #122 for 13 years.<br />

BOYLE, Ambrose Thomas WWI<br />

Ambrose was born on April 5, 1892 to Henry Boyle and Margaret Torpey of Merland, <strong>Nova</strong><br />

<strong>Scotia</strong>. He attended school in Merland, Antigonish County, and graduated from St. Francis<br />

Xavier University in 1912 with a B.A. Degree. After graduation, he went west to teach, first<br />

in Alberta then in British Columbia. He was Assistant Principal in Revelstoke, BC when World<br />

War I started. He resigned his teaching position and enlisted in Victoria with the 88 th Battalion.<br />

He served as a Private in Canada, England and France and was with the 47 th Battalion of the<br />

<strong>Canadian</strong> Infantry when he was killed at Vimy Ridge. Ambrose died at Lens Power Station in<br />

France on April 11, 1917. He was brother to Thompson Boyle and Bishop Boyle.<br />

BREWSTER, Leander Wilson WWII<br />

Leander was born in Baxter’s Harbour, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> on April 7, 1918. He joined<br />

the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Navy and served on HMCS Lethbridge, Cornwallis, St.<br />

Francis, Hochelaga, Outremont, New Waterford, Niobe, and Peregrine. He<br />

participated in the Battle of the Atlantic, and did convoy duty to England, Ireland,<br />

Iceland, and Russia. Leander was a member of the Kings <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #006.<br />

He died in 2003.<br />

BOYLE, J. WWI<br />

Sub Lieut. Boyle was born in Strathlorne, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the <strong>Royal</strong> Air<br />

Force and served in Europe during World War I.<br />
