<strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>/Nunavut <strong>Command</strong> of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong><br />

BROWN, Clarence Archibald “Clarie” WWII<br />

Clarie was born in Halifax, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> in 1920. He joined the <strong>Canadian</strong> Army in 1942, arriving at <strong>Canadian</strong><br />

Base Ordnance Depot at Bordon Hants, United Kingdom in August of that year. In 1944, he sailed for Italy<br />

and in December became attached to the 4 th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards, serving in Italy, France,<br />

Germany, and Holland during the liberation in 1945. He volunteered to remain as part of a reconnaissance<br />

regiment designated 17 th Duke of York’s <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Hussars, which consisted of volunteers from several<br />

other units. He was transferred to Bunde, Germany. Clarie was among the last of the <strong>Canadian</strong>s to leave<br />

Europe in May of 1946. He ended his military service with the <strong>Canadian</strong> Army on September 17, 1946. He<br />

received the <strong>Canadian</strong> Volunteer Service Medal, the Defence Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, and the<br />

War Medal 1939-45. Clarie was a member of the Fairview <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #142. He died in 2008.<br />

BROWN, I. H. WWI<br />

I. H. Brown enlisted in “H” Company of the 64 th Regiment on August 16, 1915 and<br />

sailed overseas the following spring. In England, he was transferred to the 25 th and<br />

fought at Courcelette, Vimy Ridge and Hill 70 where he was wounded. He returned<br />

to England after many months of noble service.<br />

BURKE, Dougall WWI<br />

Dougall was born in Inverness, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He enlisted in the Army and served in<br />

Europe with the <strong>Canadian</strong> Expeditionary Force during World War I.<br />

BURKE, Danny WWII<br />

Danny was born in Inverness, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the Army and served with the<br />

<strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Army Service Corps in Northwest Europe during World War II.<br />

Danny was killed in action in Belgium on October 13, 1945.<br />
