<strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>/Nunavut <strong>Command</strong> of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong><br />
GIFFIN, Randolph Murray WWI<br />
Randolph, who enlisted in March 1916 at the same time as his brother, Lester, was<br />
a clerk with the Chronicle Publishing Company when he joined the 219 th Battalion<br />
in Halifax. He sailed for England on October 13, 1916 and was with the 17 th Reserve<br />
Battalion at Bramshott before transferring to the 85 th and going to France on March<br />
4, 1917. Private Giffin was wounded at the battle of Mons but remained on duty. He<br />
then took part in the Vimy Ridge and Passchendaele battles and on October 22, was<br />
killed in action in the battle of Valenciennes.<br />

GILL, Thomas J. WWI<br />
Thomas served with the Army Service Corps from the day war was declared. He<br />
enlisted with the 4 th Pioneers in April, 1916 and trained in St. Stephen, NB before<br />
sailing from Halifax to England in October of that year. He was in the trenches from<br />
January until April, when he was wounded at Vimy Ridge. Thomas was invalided<br />
to England until September when he went back and was killed at Passchendaele on<br />
November 10, 1918.<br />

GILLIES, Murdock B. WWII<br />
Murdock was born in Port Hood, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Navy<br />
and served during World War II. Murdock was a member of Captain Angus L.<br />
MacDonald <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #132 in Inverness.<br />

GILLIES, John Archie WWII<br />
John was born in Port Hood, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the <strong>Canadian</strong> Army and served<br />
during World War II.<br />
