<strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>/Nunavut <strong>Command</strong> of The <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Legion</strong><br />

TUPPER, Charles Valentine “Charlie” WWII<br />

Charlie was born in Tupperville, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> on August 28, 1921. He joined the Army on<br />

August 27, 1942, received his basic training in Canada, and sailed for England in August 1943.<br />

On November 15, he sailed to Italy with the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Ordnance Corps, 5 th Division. In<br />

1944, the Ordnance Corps became the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.<br />

After serving in Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Holland, Belgium, France, and Germany, Charlie<br />

returned to Canada and was discharged in 1945. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star,<br />

the France and Germany Star, the <strong>Canadian</strong> Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, and the War<br />

Medal 1939-45. He was discharged in October 1945. Charlie has a 65-year pin and has been<br />

a Life Member of <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #033 in Bridgetown where he still resides.<br />

VARNIER, Louis WWII<br />

Louis was born in Inverness, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> and he joined the Army to serve in World<br />

War II. He landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944 with the 7 th Infantry Brigade and<br />

3 rd Infantry Division of the Regina Rifle Regiment. He also served in Northwest<br />

Europe from 1944 to 1945. Louis was a member of Captain Angus L. Macdonald<br />

<strong>Legion</strong> Branch #132 in Inverness.<br />

VIBERT, Ralph D. PEACETIME<br />

Ralph was born in Kameque, New Brunswick in 1955. He served in the Army and<br />

the Air Force in Canada and Cyprus at CFB Ottawa, CFB Greenwood, CFB<br />

Gagetown, and HMCS Assiniboine. Ralph has been a member of the Lawrencetown<br />

<strong>Legion</strong> Branch #112 for 7 years.<br />

VIBERT, Susan V. PEACETIME<br />

Susan was born in Middleton, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> in 1951. She joined the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong><br />

Air Force and served in Canada at CFB Greenwood, LFAANQ, CFNOS Halifax,<br />

404 Squadron BTELO, NDHQ, and CFB Ottawa. Susan has been a member of<br />

Lawrencetown <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #112 for 4 years.<br />
