MARRIOTT, James Alan WWII<br />

James was born in Halifax, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> in 1923. He joined the <strong>Royal</strong> <strong>Canadian</strong> Air<br />

Force and served in England, Ireland and Germany during World War II. James died<br />

in 2003.<br />

Submitted independently.<br />

McCHESNEY, Ambrose WWI<br />

Ambrose was born to Mrs. A. McChesney on September 16, 1894 in Antigonish,<br />

<strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. A meat cutter by trade, he enlisted on December 22, 1914 in<br />

Fredericton, New Brunswick and served in France and Belgium as a Sergeant Major<br />

with the <strong>Canadian</strong> Overseas Battalion in the Cavalry during World War I. Ambrose<br />

went to the United States after the war, never married, and passed away while living<br />

in the States. He was a relative of Clarence McChesney.<br />

McHALE, Gerald L. WWI<br />

Gerald enlisted at age 19 on August 5, 1915 in Halifax and sailed for France. He<br />

served there for over three years, and through all the heavy fighting, had only one<br />

mishap, a broken ear drum.<br />

McDONALD, Arthur A. PEACETIME<br />

Arthur was born in 1938 in New Glasgow, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the RCRs in 1955<br />

and did his basic training at Petawawa, ON. When the RCR disbanded, he went into<br />

the 4 th Guards until they disbanded in 1957. From there, he joined the Black Watch<br />

and finally joined Finance when the Black Watch disbanded in 1977. He served in<br />

the following areas: 3 tours of duty in Cyprus; Werl, Germany from 1955-58; Class<br />

“C” Manager, Cornwallis Officer’s Mess from 1959-80; Cornwallis from 1973-79;<br />

then to Greenwood. He also served at Base Gagetown. Arthur has been a member<br />

of Clementsport <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #122 for 48 years.<br />
