GILLIS, Francis WWI<br />

Francis was born in Deepdale, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the Air Force to serve in<br />

World War I and he was a Private with the 375 Aeronautics Squad of the American<br />

Expeditionary Force, serving in Europe.<br />

GILLIS, Frank WWII<br />

Frank was born in Inverness, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. During World War II, he joined the<br />

<strong>Canadian</strong> Army and served in Europe from 1941 to 1942. He also served with the<br />

<strong>Canadian</strong> Merchant Marines from 1942 to 1945.<br />

GILLIS, John WWII<br />

John was born in Inverness, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong>. He joined the Army and served with the<br />

<strong>Royal</strong> Hamilton Light Infantry in Europe during World War II. John was a member<br />

of Captain Angus L. MacDonald <strong>Legion</strong> Branch #132 in Inverness.<br />

GILLIS, Hugh Allen WWII<br />

Hugh was born in Deepdale, <strong>Nova</strong> <strong>Scotia</strong> on April 25, 1911. During World War II,<br />

he served with Battery D, 109 th Anti-Aircraft Gun Battalion of the United States<br />

Army in the Ardennes, Central Europe, Northern France, the Rhineland, and<br />

Normandy. Hugh died on October 17, 1975.<br />
