Ap—0 to 3 inches; dark yellowish brown (10YR 4/4) gravelly silt loam; weak fine<br />

granular structure; very friable; common very fine <strong>and</strong> fine roots; 17 percent chert<br />

fragments; strongly acid; clear smooth boundary.<br />

BE—3 to 6 inches; strong brown (7.5YR 4/6) gravelly silt loam; weak medium<br />

subangular blocky structure; friable; few very fine <strong>and</strong> fine roots; 17 percent chert<br />

fragments; strongly acid; clear smooth boundary.<br />

Bt1—6 to 11 inches; yellowish red (5YR 5/6) gravelly silty clay; moderate medium<br />

subangular blocky structure; friable; few very fine <strong>and</strong> fine roots; few faint clay films<br />

on faces <strong>of</strong> peds; 15 percent chert fragments; very strongly acid; gradual wavy<br />

boundary.<br />

Bt2—11 to 24 inches; red (2.5YR 4/6) gravelly silty clay; moderate medium subangular<br />

blocky structure; firm; few very fine <strong>and</strong> fine roots; common distinct clay films on<br />

faces <strong>of</strong> peds; 20 percent chert fragments; very strongly acid; gradual wavy<br />

boundary.<br />

Bt3—24 to 60 inches; red (2.5YR 4/6) gravelly silty clay; few fine prominent strong<br />

brown (7.5YR 5/8) mottles; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; firm;<br />

few fine roots; many distinct clay films on faces <strong>of</strong> peds; 30 percent chert<br />

fragments; very strongly acid.<br />
