seconds N. <strong>and</strong> long. 84 degrees 50 minutes 37 seconds W.<br />

A—0 to 5 inches; yellowish brown (10YR 5/4) silt loam; weak medium granular<br />

structure; very friable; many very fine, fine, medium, <strong>and</strong> coarse roots; 10 percent<br />

shale fragments; very strongly acid; gradual wavy boundary.<br />

Bt1—5 to 16 inches; strong brown (7.5YR 5/8) silty clay; many fine distinct brownish<br />

yellow (10YR 6/8) mottles; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; friable;<br />

few very fine <strong>and</strong> fine roots; few faint <strong>and</strong> distinct clay films on faces <strong>of</strong> peds; 10<br />

percent shale fragments; very strongly acid; gradual wavy boundary.<br />

Bt2—16 to 27 inches; strong brown (7.5YR 5/8) channery silty clay loam; many<br />

medium distinct brownish yellow (10YR 6/8) <strong>and</strong> few fine prominent red (2.5YR<br />

4/6) mottles; moderate medium subangular blocky structure; friable; few faint <strong>and</strong><br />

distinct clay films on faces <strong>of</strong> peds; 20 percent shale fragments; very strongly acid;<br />

clear wavy boundary.<br />

Cr—27 to 60 inches; multicolored, rippable shale bedrock bedded at angles up to 35<br />

degrees.<br />

Reaction: Strongly acid or very strongly acid throughout, except where lime has been<br />

applied
