identifiable variables were also detennined. In spite <strong>of</strong> the study's methodological<br />

challenges, especially the suspicion <strong>of</strong> some political leaders, absence <strong>of</strong> certain household<br />

heads and the need for interpretation in some cases during the interview, the analytical<br />

techniques and statistical tools such as frequencies, cross tabulations and analysis <strong>of</strong><br />

associations between attributes were adequately administered. This allowed the hypothesis to<br />

be tested in order to establish the extent to which the landscape, land use and cultural<br />

attributes were effectively and efficiently used in the development and growth <strong>of</strong>Ulundi.<br />
