MEDIJSKA ETIKA
Mediji u današnje vrijeme imaju veliku moć u promicanju ideja i usmjeravanju
svjetonazora stanovništva. Televizija, novine, radio i internet izvori
najutjecajnijih svjetskih intelektualaca, američkog lingvista Noama Chomskog,
te njegovih deset strategija manipulacije putem medija.
MEDIA ETHICS
Nowadays, the media have great power in promoting ideas and shaping
population’s worldviews. Television, newspapers, radio and the Internet
are the sources of information, often wrong and biased, which people
generally accept uncritically. Great power of the media is a double-edged
sword: although it can be used in a very positive way and improve the population’s
life quality, good intentions are often in the shadow of economy
and the media use its power to raise its own profit, to the detriment of the
life quality of other people. Do the media have the right to publish content
that damage the majority for the benefit of the minority? Is money sufficient
justification for it?
In this paper I will try to present some striking examples of the apparent
abuse of media power. In addition, I will present the ideas of one of the
world’s most influential intellectuals, the American linguist Noam Chomsky
and his ten strategies of manipulation by the media.
