NANOETHICS: FACTS, PROMISES AND CHALLENGES<br />
Our planet is facing with the fast development and growth of a new and<br />
emerging science and technologies. Nanobiotechnology and nanomedicine<br />
are the latest of such technologies in the field of biology and medicine. The<br />
use of nano-materials in diagnostics, treatment and prevention of diseases,<br />
or the use stem cells for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine are<br />
some of the fastest growing technologies. Beside the safety issues, a great<br />
concern surrounds the ethical, legal and social implications of using such<br />
technologies in humans, animals and environment. Nanoethics is a newly<br />
emerged branch of science which deals with ethical, legal and social implications<br />
of the new and emerging science and technologies in general and<br />
nanotechnology in particular. Therefore the moral and legal argumentation<br />
for using these technologies in the society is a major challenge for bioethicists<br />
and other relevant authorities.<br />
NANOETIKA: ČINJENICE, OBEĆANJA I IZAZOVI<br />
Naš planet suočava se s brzim razvojem i rastom novonastajuće znanosti<br />
i tehnologija. Nanobiotehnologija i nanomedicina su posljednje takve<br />
tehnologije u polju biologije i medicine. Među one tehnologije koje se najbrže<br />
razvijaju ubrajaju se korištenje nano-materijala za dijagnosticiranje,<br />
liječenje i prevenciju bolesti ili matičnih stanica za inženjering tkiva i regenerativnu<br />
medicinu. Osim pitanja o njihovoj sigurnosti, veliku zabrinutost<br />
izazivaju etičke, pravne i društvene implikacije korištenja tih tehnologija<br />
kod ljudi i životinja te u okolišu. Nanoetika je nova grana znanosti koja se<br />
bavi etičkim, pravnim i društvenim iplikacijama novonastajuće znanosti i<br />
tehnologija općenito, a napose nanotehnologije. Stoga je moralna i pravna<br />
argumentacija vezana uz upotrebu ovih tehnologija u društvu glavni izazov<br />
za bioetičare i druge relevantne autoritete.<br />
