Killian tells Milah to run but she refuses to abandon him. Rumplestiltskin demand answers
and she explains that Killian attracted her with his tales of far-off lands. She decided to go with
him but admits that she couldn’t find a way to tell Rumplestiltskin.
Unimpressed, Rumplestiltskin prepares to kill Killian but Milah shows him William’s red cap
as proof that she now has the magic bean that she wants. She offers it to Rumplestiltskin in
return for their lives and he demands to see it first.
Ruby denies seeing Belle but David promises to make sure that nothing bad will happen. She
considers and then tells David that Belle was in earlier and she sent her to the library. Ruby asks
Gold to give her the scarf that she had and Gold realizes that it’s the one he gave her. Touched,
she offers to track him down, explaining that she has become more sensitive to odors because
of the wolf thing. Ruby sniffs the scarf and then walks down the street to the library but then
loses the trail at Moe’s flower shop because of the pollen. Gold realizes that it’s Moe’s shop and
he goes inside to demand answers. Moe says that Belle is safe and he won’t let Gold destroy Belle
like he has everything else. When Gold demands to know what happened, they realize that Moe
is sending her across the town line so that she will forget Gold... and everything else.
David hauls Moe outside and demands to know where Belle will be sent across so that he can
avoid the patrols they’ve sent. When he refuses to talk, Gold chokes him but David stops him
and notices mine dust on Moe’s hand. He realizes that Moe plans to send Belle out through the
tunnels beneath the town line As the sun rises, Milah brings Killian to the ship and tells them
to bring the prisoner, William, up. They bring up the man and show Rumplestiltskin the bean,
and ask if his business with them is done. Rumplestiltskin says that he can see that they’re in
love and asks Milah how she could leave Bae. The ship comes to life as Rumplestiltskin tells
Milah how he had to tell Bae that his mother was dead. She apologizes, saying that her misery
clouded her judgment. When Milah says that she was miserable because she never loved him,
Rumplestiltskin reaches into her chest and rips out her heart. As Killian runs to her, Milah says
that she loves him.
Rumplestiltskin crushes her heart to dust and Killian, still holding the bean in his left hand,
vows vengeance. After a moment, Rumplestiltskin cuts off Killian’s hand and takes it, and says
that he will let him live to suffer as he did. Killian picks up a ship’s hook and jams it into
Rumplestiltskin’s chest, but Rumplestiltskin says it will take more than that to kill him and
wishes him luck in living long enough to find a way. As he teleports away, Killian picks up the
hook and considers it.
William chains Belle inside of a mine cart and leaves her the key in the bottom so she can
free herself once she’s clear. He shoves her down the tracks and she tries to reach the key only
to drop it. However, Gold casts a spell pulling her back and then another freeing her. She still
remembers who he is and Gold embraces her as Moe looks on. After a moment, Belle shoves him
away and says that he hasn’t changed. When Moe asks her to come with him, she refuses, saying
that he doesn’t care about her and that neither one of them listened to her. Belle says that she
doesn’t want to see either one of them and walks away.
Later, Belle goes back to the diner and Ruby gets her breakfast. Belle thanks her for everything
and Ruby offers to let her stay there at Granny’s as long as she needs. Ruby gives her a box that
someone left and inside it Belle finds the key to the library. She goes there and lets herself in, and
finds Gold waiting. He admits that he gave her the keys and that there’s an apartment for the
caretaker. When Belle wonders if he’s trying to win her back, Gold explains that he came because
she was right about him and he is a coward and has been his entire life. He gathered power to
fight it but couldn’t let it go even for Bae. Once Bae left, Gold dedicated himself to finding him
and finally located the curse that would bring him to Storybrooke. All he could do then was wait
until the curse was broken so he could find Bae. But then he brought magic because he’s still a
coward, and now he can’t leave the town. Belle realizes that if he leaves to search for Bae then
he won’t know him, and Gold reminds her that magic comes with a price.
He plans to use magic to break the new curse and didn’t want to lose her without her knowing
everything. Gold says goodbye to her and starts to walk away. Belle invites him to have a
hamburger with her at Granny’s sometime and Gold accepts her offer.
Back at his workshop, Rumplestiltskin pries open Killian’s hand only to discover that the
bean isn’t there.
On the ship, Killian considers the bean as his ship puts to sea. They give Milah an ocean
burial and then ungags William, who introduces himself as William Smee. He demands his bean
